There are a number of programs that provide support to businesses in New York. This list specifically focuses on manufacturing, distribution and research & development entities. However, a number of these programs are open to a wider range of business organizations.
Business Growth: Grants are available for companies planning on creating jobs and making capital investments (machinery, furniture, construction/renovation, acquisitions, etc.). There are tax credits available for companies who have already made these investments in the past 12 months.
Utilities Cost Reduction: There are several programs available from PSEG and NYPA to help reduce the cost of utilities (generally for companies spending over $3,000/month on their electric bills or making a major equipment purchase).
Employee Training: The NYS Department of Labor, County Departments of Labor, regional Manufacturing Extension Partnerships, Workforce Development Institute and NYPA provide support for employee training and business compliance training.
Export Support: The Department of Commerce and Empire State Development provide support for export activities including attending trade shows, international sales trips, foreign translation of marketing materials, and compliance measures and training.
